Go-Fishing Show 2010

Once again, the Go-Fishing Show and 'Fish o' Mania match angling finals arrived at the prestigious Cudmore Fishery in Staffordshire. Held on the 17/18 July, the event promised trade and retail outlets, angling stars and media personalities, hints and tips, competitions and prizes and everything else 'fishy' that you could think of!

Patronised by established popular anglers such as John Wilson, Martin Bowler, Matt Hayes and his trusty sidekick Mick Brown, Kev Green, Bob Nudd, Steve Broad and many others, it gave the opportunity for the everyday enthusiast to get 'up close and personal' with their favourites. Also on show were the very latest in new tackle and technique innovation from a variety of manufacturers such as Shimano, Browning and Daiwa, and it was great to see unusual or up and coming companies present as their products gained valuable exposure.

Cyril Brewster and his team have expended a huge amount of energy and experience organising what has previously proved to be a very successful, well attended showpiece firmly bedded in the angling calendar, so was it the same in 2010?

If I'm honest, after the glorious warm weather in the preceding couple of months prior to 'Go-Fishing', the weekend conspired against Cudmore with two days of unsettled weather. Saturday dawned dry but cool and cloudy; Sunday produced heavy rain for extended periods of the day which does detract somewhat from what is billed as a family day out. The layout at the venue is not helped by wet weather as the majority of the retail spaces are constructed on the grassy areas which are numerous throughout the site; rain tends to make the walking areas muddy and this gets padded through on the feet of visitors to make a mess in places. Carp parking is also hampered by rain fall as, unless you are a VIP (which sadly I'm not), you park on a field adjacent to Cudmore.

Weather aside, Cudmore once more came up with the goods; visitors were able to watch demonstrations ...
