Car boot bargains? With just 5 pounds?

As some of you may know from articles I've written in the past, I love a bargain! I don't fish at weekends as it's the only time I get to spend with my lovely wife, but it doesn't stop me thinking fishing! (Sorry dear!)

We both enjoy pottering around car boot sales to pick up things for the home and garden, grandchildren and occasionally for ourselves, so, just to see if I could, I set myself a budget of £5 to see if I could get one angling related bargain every time I go to a sale. Each time I get something, I’ll write a short piece to tell you all about it and hopefully inspire you to get out and find some for yourselves!

Week 1. Leek Car Boot sale in Staffordshire is a fairly small sale with around 75-100 stalls and is not a particularly happy hunting ground, but you just never know..........The weather was red hot, not conducive to wandering around for hours and having the patience to negotiate with sellers, but there you go; it’s got to be done....

I’d noticed a few bits and pieces, mainly old cane rods and empty cantilever tackle boxes (think ‘Woolies’ circa 1985) with the odd bit of more expensive tackle, but nothing really stood out until we had almost finished. I happened to lift up a pair of binoculars, and tucked behind it was a Shimano lure bag full of plugs, poppers and spinners.
