Evening, I don't know about everyone else but I've been working all weekend and missed all the sun so I'm a bit gutted but what can you do.The good news is I have the day off tomorrow and have made a fresh batch of boilies to continue my testing. The plan is to hit up a quite ish area of the canal that doesn't see much action, so I'm hoping that there maybe a few fish held up. It looks like I will be taking a quiver tip with me to try for a few tench as well' as I know that they are normally there. I'll keep you up to date. Tight lines
Hi, It's been a busy week or so for me all work no play. I'll be on the bank soon continuing bait testing, I've got a freeze full of boilies and I am going to make a fruity version of my boilies this afternoon. Not long now till the river opens and I don't think it can come soon enough!
Hello again, I have returned from a unsuccessful trip to todber manor :( I had a good time though, I learn't alot about the lake and met a good angler who's a top bloke. He's had a good session so far and landed a 30lb cat at about 10 this morning, which he was overly pleased with. As for me I will be back on the canal within the next few days testing my boilies. Until next time. Tight lines guys.
Just got back from the canal, I had a good time despite experiencing every type of weather possible. Only managed a few bream though biggest was 10lb 4 oz which was a PB by a pound but no carp. My garlic boilies seem to working better than the coconut, got a few changes in mind for both. Probably won't be out again till Thursday when I'm heading to Todber Manor in search of a big cat!
Just got back from pre baiting my swim on the canal with my own boilies. I'm going down friday afternoon till monday, should have a few fish to report back most likely a couple bream and if I'm lucky the odd carp or tench might be on the bank. I'm just testing my bait to be honest no target species as such but ideally tench and carp.
hello again, I haven't been out the bank in the week but have next week off! Gona be doing a few nights on my local canal testing my boilies, then the end of the week off to todber manor cant wait wish me luck. I imagine there will be some sort of catch report before todber if im lucky

hi, I'm a keen river and canal angler out to have a good day on the bank and meet some nice people. At the moment I'm testing boilies I've made from scratch for about £4 a kg so I'll keep you lot up to date on my progress.
With the river season quickly coming to an end and with the fish most likely to be at the heaviest i decided to do something that i have been trying to do for ages. Catch a big Chub. I decided to target my local stretch of the river wensum near hellesdon mill as there had been reports of a couple fish of over 6lb coming out. So that was my target, a 6lb Chevin. Easy some would say, however with all the otter predation on the wensum just lately most of the big fish have just vanished. However with my knowledge of a few big'uns being caught i decided to give it ago. I sat in a swim where i have fished before a had decent catches of chub from. however these chub hadnt been particularly big with the biggest (My profile pic) going 4lb 7oz. But the swim always seemed like it could hold better fish so i went with my instinct. I decided to fish on the stick float, now i know feeder fished tactics could well have caught me a better fish however there really is nothing like playing a big fish on light lines and tiny hooks. I decided to use my new abu garcia close faced reel for this session as i hadnt given it ago yet and this would be the last time i could use it in a while. I plumbed up to find around 4 ft of water, and set my float so it was about an inch under depth. As i was setting up i began to catapult in maggots every minute hoping for a chub first run through... and it worked! a nice 2lb chub in the net, not a big one but a nice start. I continued to catch chub and the occasional roach and dace when suddenly the swim just died. I fed heavily for the next 10 minutes hoping for a response. The float shot under an i was attached to a better fish, certainly a chub. The reel was fantastic as i back winded to stop the chub from breaking me. After some short bursts to try and get into the bushy snag at the end of my swim she was in the net. This would be close, it definitely was going upper 5 and maybe the magic 6lb! I decided to weight it in the landing net and after zeroing the scales i placed her in...5lb 14oz. Ooooooooooh! so close but not to worry because it was truly an amazing fish. I continued to catch roach and dace and a couple more chub but they 'only' went around 3- 3 an a half pounds. My couple of days fishing had come to an end an with it another river season. I'll be back come june 16th and will be going for river carp and hopefully i'll be able to catch that 6lb chub!
